CHALLENGE

Create a visual identity for a new church that champions art and implements variability into the identity. The client wanted the identity to feel more art forward than a traditional church identity while also representing new growth and stability.

APPROACH

As always, I started out with my sketchbook. One of the first designs I drew was the hand of God holding soil with a new plant. I wanted the identity to resemble the artwork in stained glass windows so I incorporated this mark into an arch shape with some broken glass lines. This arch shape also gave a framework for other parts of the brand to use, such as sermon series and other ministries. For the color scheme I chose a mixture of deep teal and orange paired with creams to provide a pop of color without going to over the top. The identity is designed to take different forms depending on the use so it is not dependent on one single paring of the mark and the type..
